Polymechanic EFZ (vocational education and training diploma)

Apprenticeship as a Polymechanic

Depending on the field of work, polymechanics produce parts from metals and plastics, from tiny watch screws through to massive turbine wheels.

To do so, they use modern, drilling, turning and milling machines, which are often controlled by computers, and countless other machine tools. They monitor and optimise production processes. They assemble devices, apparatus, machines and systems in addition to performing all the necessary setting, regulating and inspection tasks. They find and eliminate faults. The team comprises various specialists and together they execute the projects. Given that the parts usually have to be very precise, work must be extremely well planned and focussed. Depending on the field, they also create technical documents.
